Short Biography

Herbert Höpfl was born in Passau, Germany (30.03.1968). In 1994 he finished his studies in
chemistry at the
University of Munich with the Diplom-Chemiker degree (equivalent to Master
of Science), during which he was supported by a fellowship of the Studienstiftung des
Deutschen Volkes. In 1997 he obtained his Ph.D. degree in the Chemistry Department of the
Centro de Investigación y Estudios Avanzados del IPN (
CINVESTAV) in the field of Inorganic
Chemistry.

Since 1997 he is working as professor at Morelos State University in Cuernavaca. He is
member of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores in México (SNI, level III) and receives the
maximum level of reward possible regarding his academic activities within this university.

His research interests are focused on the design of new strategies and processes to
synthesize macro- and supramolecular systems as well as porous materials. For this
purpose he is exploring the coordination and supramolecular chemistry of boron, tin and
cadmium compounds.
